The pitchers

Nick Bierbrodt

After working six or more innings in five of his first six starts, Bierbrodt hasn't made it through six in his past three. Saturday in Toronto, the 23-year-old rookie left-hander let a 5-0 second-inning lead get away. His lone Tampa Bay win came Aug. 13.

Roy Halladay

Since working back to the big leagues in July, the 24-year-old right-hander has pitched well. Halladay is 4-2 with a 3.40 ERA, and the bullpen has blown five saves. He has no record and a 5.29 ERA in five appearances against the Rays.
