Buccaneer magazines, team photos offeredBy LINDA D. COLE and INGRID L. KOHLER © St. Petersburg Times, published September 30, 2000 Margaret Randolph is hoping to find a good home for her collection of Buccaneer Game Day magazines from 1976 through 1982 or 1983. She also has team pictures from that same period. If you're interested in this collection, give Margaret a call at (727) 535-3592. Darlene of St. Petersburg recently heard a poem on a local radio station but doesn't remember which station or she would contact them directly. The poem was titled Teenagers Are Like Cats. The theme of the poem is that small children are like dogs: They run to greet you and like to be close to you, but once they become teenagers they become independent like cats. The poem ends with them becoming like dogs again as they turn into young adults. If you have this poem, send it to Darlene in care of this column, and we'll forward it. Diane Pittman of Dunnellon hopes one of you Exchangers has the pattern for a crocheted purse that is made in the popcorn stitch and has D handles. If you have this pattern and would be willing to share, give Diane a call at (352) 465-7506. Donald Blackwell of Hudson has two requests. First, he is looking for an owner's manual for his 1992 Nissan pickup truck. Secondly, he'd like to get sheet music or music books by guitarist Chet Atkins. If you can help with either request, give him a call at (727) 869-7852. Viola Kwiatkowski of Palm Harbor is searching for a hand-held slide previewer. She has tried all over to buy one but hasn't had any luck. If you know where she can buy one or have one you'd be willing to pass on, give her a call at (727) 784-4496. Cindy e-mails that she is the activities director at a local adult living facility and is looking for craft materials. She also is looking for a football helmet and pads to fit a small adult. If you can help, give her a call at (727) 938-2883 or e-mail her at LucindaActive@aol.com. Robert Flynn of Lutz wonders if any readers can help him locate a poem he remembers from elementary school about 50 years ago. It began, "While out on the gig, the rigajigjig, on the stormiest night of the year." It was a comic poem describing a hurricane at sea tearing a ship apart, followed by a shift in the wind's direction that reassembles the ship. If this poem is familiar to you, e-mail Robert at rflynn@chuma.cas.usf.edu. Pat Iverson e-mails that she has several pieces of new wood-grain vinyl that would be suitable for a small hall or bath. The larger pieces are 4 by 4 by 7 feet and 4 by 4 by 3 feet, and there are two smaller pieces. She also has two strips of new carpet that a dollhouse builder might find useful, a burgundy piece 17 feet by 10 inches and a teal piece that is 12 feet by 81/2 inches. If either of these interests you, call Pat at (727) 547-1915 or e-mail her at PATTIVOR@aol.com. Alice Szczur e-mails that she has been trying to locate a copy of the June 1949 issue of McLean's magazine. She has the original pencil drawing that appeared with an article, and she's interested in learning what story it went with. She says she's been a faithful follower of this column since the beginning, and she knows what you Exchangers can do. If you can help Alice, call her at (727) 461-5489 or e-mail her at sfkbt@scfn.thpl.lib.fl.us. Howard Moser e-mails that he recently started working with stained glass as a hobby. He is wondering if anyone has used equipment, supplies or patterns that they would be willing to pass on to a beginner. Howard can be reached at (727) 376-7570, or e-mail him at mos701@gte.net. Ruth Ross of St. Petersburg has records, records, records, both 45's and 78's, and says most of the 78's are by big bands. She says they are free for pickup, but you must take them all. If you want to add to your collection, give Ruth a call at (727) 347-2425. Thank-you noteWinfred Platt called to thank all the Exchangers who responded to her request for craft ideas and greeting cards, which her craft group uses to make items for nursing homes. She said she had received more than 100 calls and has enough ideas to keep them going for a long time. Send questions, answers and tips to Reader Exchange, Home & Garden, the Times, P.O. Box 1121, St. Petersburg 33731 or e-mail cole@sptimes.com. Only questions of general interest will be answered. Requests will be accepted only by mail; no phoned requests, please. Except in unusual circumstances, readers must agree to publication of phone numbers (please include the area code) to be considered for the column. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
