PALM HARBOR -- Two sustained drives in the game were enough for Osceola to drop Palm Harbor University, 23-13. Both resulted in touchdown passes.

The Warriors opened the game with a 70-yard drive that lasted over five minutes and ended with a 31-yard pass from Leroy Hayes to Jason Teague. Osceola ended the game with a drive of 80 yards, ending with a 3-yard pass from Hayes to Karl Lopez. It ate up over seven minutes.

Junior running back Teague led the attack with 246 yards of total offense. Teague and Hayes hooked up for four catches that resulted in two touchdowns and 150 yards. All-purpose back Teague added 96 yards on 20 carries.

PHU got on the board early in the second quarter with a booming 47-yard field goal by Danny Shea, who added a 28-yarder in the fourth quarter. Earlier in the drive, Hurricane running back James Brown had a 9-yard touchdown run called back for a holding penalty.

Hayes and Teague hooked up on wild play midway though the second quarter. Hayes dropped back to pass and eluded several Hurricane tacklers deep in his backfield and fired the ball to Teague who caught it at the Hurricane 35. Teague then dodged several tacklers to complete the 69-yard scoring play and put the Warriors up 14-3.

Palm Harbor came back on its next possession to drive the ball 74 yards, highlighted by Brown. The Hurricane senior carried the ball 10 times for 70 yards and caught a pass for 4 yards in the 13-play drive, which lasted over seven minutes. He scored Palm Harbor's only touchdown on a 6-yard run with 37 seconds left in the first half.

The Warriors quickly drove 67 yards in three plays to set up Ryan Weber's 34-yard field goal as the horn sounded ending the first half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Shea's second field goal made it 17-13. The Warriors then put on their final drive of the night, putting Palm Harbor too far down with too little time to catch up. The drive ended with the Hayes to Lopez touchdown pass on a fourth and goal from the Hurricane 3 yard line and a 23-13 lead.
