© St. Petersburg Times, TOO FAR Inc. holds open houseINVERNESS -- TOO FAR Inc. will sponsor an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at its new office, 26 N Florida Ave. Free posters of the Withlacoochee River and maps of the Withlacoochee River Basin will be available. Refreshments will be served. Board members and volunteers will be present to answer questions about the organization and about water matters in general. TOO FAR is a grass roots organization dedicated to improving the quality of local water, raising and maintaining water levels and prevention of transfer of our water to other areas. Program for girls needs volunteersCamp E-Nini-Hassee, the Eckerd Youth Alternative program for girls in Floral City, needs volunteers to assist in tutoring in reading, writing and math; craft or special projects; office help for filing; and transporting students for specific trips. Anyone interested in improving the future one child at a time should attend an orientation at 7 p.m. Oct. 11 at Camp E-Nini-Hassee. For information and directions, call Mary Taylor, 726-3883. This Eckerd program is a residential program for girls who have problems at school or home. The Floral City site houses 60 girls between 10 and 18 years old. This experiential educational program has been successfully helping youth at the Floral City location since 1969.
