© St. Petersburg Times, HOMOSASSA MAN CHARGED: Prosecutors have charged James Michael Daley, 40, with boating under the influence/manslaughter, a second-degree felony, in connection with the death of Jimmie Bonds, who was killed in a June boat collision on the Chassahowitzka River. LECANTO HIGH SCHOOL BOMB THREAT: Lecanto High School was evacuated Thursday morning after a maintenance worker found a note that provided a detailed account of where explosives had been placed inside and outside the school. Authorities found no bomb. The case is under investigation. CRYSTAL RIVER MEN FOUND: Two Crystal River men who had been missing in the Gulf of Mexico for more than a day were located early Tuesday by Coast Guard rescuers. Joe Hawk, 45, and Chris Shannon, 35, were spotted about 30 nautical miles west of Crystal River by a helicopter crew after one of the men waved a flashlight to get rescuers' attention. The men were not injured. The pair had left Fort Island Gulf Trail in their 21-foot blue and white Bayliner at 9 a.m. Sept. 23 to fish for shark and grouper. They had been scheduled to return by 3 p.m. CRYSTAL RIVER ELECTIONS: Qualifying week for November's City Council races ended Friday, and the candidates who emerged promise a lively month ahead. They are well-known foes. John Kendall, leader of the insurgent group Citizens for Reform, is taking on incumbent Mike Gudis, while former council member Kitty Ebert is running against Ray Wallace, also an incumbent. In a third race that may not be as acrimonious, Susan Kirk will face Wes Stow for the seat that Joe Chrietzberg is vacating. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
