Strict security

In response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, security at Florida Field was tight. Four police officers were stationed at each gate and fans were subject to search upon entering. One woman told her husband as they approached an entrance that so many police made her nervous. His response: "Get used to it, honey. This is the way it's going to be at big events like this from now on."

Play on words

Last year, the song Who Let the Dogs Out? played incessantly over the loudspeakers in Starkville, Miss., as part of the taunting that Florida players and coaches said they experienced during a 47-35 loss. Florida turned the tide Saturday. With 15 seconds remaining in the game, the giant television flashed "Who Shut The Dogs Out?"

Graves honored

Former Florida head coach Ray Graves was honored with a bust, which was presented to him on the field by members of the Silver Sixties Bull Gators Club. Graves coached from 1960-69, including coach Heisman Trophy-winning season. During his 10-year tenure, Graves compiled 70-31-4 record.

Painted pride

Two large red, white and blue ribbons were painted on each 35-yard line in memory of the victims killed in the terrorist attacks.
