Boy arrested after attack on bus driver

He thought it would be the perfect way to get even, but a West Hernando Middle School student ended up in jail last week after authorities say he threw a bottle of urine at a school bus driver.

The 13-year-old boy, whose name the Times is withholding because of his age, was arrested Thursday and faces charges of assault and battery on a school employee.

According to a Hernando County sheriff's report, the teen has disliked his bus driver, Walter Hood, for three years. So on Thursday, the day before the boy and his family were going to move to New York, he decided he would get even.

All day long, the report said, the teen urinated into a bottle. At the end of the school day, he walked up to the bus and then threw the contents of the bottle at the driver, authorities said.

The boy later told officials he thought he would be able to get away with it because he was moving. The teen was taken to the Hernando County Jail, where he was released to his father.

Convertible stolen, other cars broken into

RIDGE MANOR WEST -- Authorities are looking for the person or persons who broke into several cars near Ridge Manor West and stole another car.

A red, 1997 Chevy Cavalier convertible was stolen and 10 other vehicles were broken into Friday night at homes along Park Ridge Lane and Park Ridge Drive, a Hernando County sheriff's report said. Taken from the cars and trucks were CDs, mobile phones, stereo equipment and various personal items.

Officials think the incidents are connected but have no suspects, sheriff's spokeswoman Deanna Dammer said.

Teen faces charges of stealing mom's car

A 15-year-old boy faces multiple charges after authorities say he stole his mother's car and then led police on a chase -- twice driving straight at sheriff's deputies and forcing them off the road.

The Times is withholding the name of the teen -- who faces charges of aggravated assault, grand theft auto and fleeing authorities -- because of his age.

According to Hernando County sheriff's report, the boy's mother reported her car missing Thursday night. Later that evening, deputies spotted the car and tried to pull it over, but the driver refused and drove straight at them. The same thing happened the next day when authorities saw the car again, a report said.

The teen, who lives south of Brooksville, eventually was located and arrested, sheriff's spokeswoman Deanna Dammer said. He was taken to the Hernando County Jail and was transferred Saturday to the juvenile detention center in Ocala.
