    Support group forms for cancer survivors

    LARGO -- Sun Coast Hospital is offering help this week for cancer survivors and people wondering whether they are struggling with depression. The Spirit of Survivorship support group for cancer survivors and their families begins today. Here are times to attend: 1 to 3 p.m. or 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the main-floor meeting room of the hospital at 2025 Indian Rocks Road. Meetings also will be held at the same time on each Tuesday of this month. Call 586-7153 for more information. The hospital is offering free depression screenings 10 a.m. Thursday. Held at the hospital's Center for Behavioral Medicine, attendees will hear an educational presentation, complete a written screening and talk one-on-one with a mental health professional. The hospital is offering the screenings as part of National Depression Screening Day. Call 586-7118 for more information.

    Applications sought for arts, crafts show

    INDIAN ROCKS BEACH -- Applications for the 23rd annual Fall Festival arts and crafts show are available. The Beach Art Center will play host to the event Nov. 18 at Kolb Park opposite the art center at 1515 Bay Palm Blvd. Artists and crafters will have an opportunity to win cash prizes. Exhibitors wishing to participate, even if they have done so in the past, should call the Beach Art Center at (727) 596-4331 for an application or more information.

    Volunteers needed for Guardian ad Litem

    Guardian ad Litem, located at 14250 49th St. N in Clearwater, provides court-appointed advocates of abused or neglected children who are going through the court processes. A new volunteer class will begin Oct. 21. Call (727) 464-6528 for additional information.
