1 dead, 1 injured in accident

PALM HARBOR -- A Largo woman died and a Palm Harbor man was injured at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday when their car skidded off Alt. U.S. 19 and slammed into a power pole, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said John J. Ogden, 37, of 756 First Court, Palm Harbor, was driving south on U.S. Alt. 19. After Ogden's 1984 Cadillac went into the center turn lane for an unknown reason, he braked and skidded into a power pole south of Crystal Beach Drive. Troopers said a passenger in the car was killed and identified her as Lisa Abbott Hall, 35, of 12976 Seminole Blvd., Largo. Ogden suffered minor injuries, troopers said. Neither was wearing a seat belt, and troopers said the crash was thought to be alcohol-related. Charges are pending completion of the investigation.
