SHADY HILLS -- Three of Hudson's four Pasco Police Athletic League teams are Northwest Division leaders while the fourth is in a first-place tie.
Hudson won three of four games against Shady Hills Saturday; the host Raiders won only the junior varsity game, 20-0. That knocked Hudson's JVs from the unbeaten ranks, leaving Hudson with two undefeated teams, varsity and flyweights.
Tommy Snow of Shady Hills returned a kickoff for a touchdown, ran for one and passed to Tyson Nix for another.
The Cobras had their best chance to score with Shady Hills leading 14-0 in the second half, but Raiders inside linebacker Dustin Lyons stuffed a fourth-down run up the middle for a goal-line stand.
"That play really made a big difference in the whole game," Shady Hills assistant Richard Ayers said.
A.J. Lenney, Eric Schwartz, Snow and David Sowers, who recovered a fumble, sparked the Shady Hills defense.
Hudson's varsity won 28-7 behind Andrew Hart touchdown passes to Josh Hanson and Robert Baird, and Hart's score on a quarterback keeper. Danny Vitale also ran for a touchdown. Hanson added six points on three kicks (In PPAL, two points are awarded for PATs).
Hudson's defense was led by Hanson, who had two interceptions, and Mike Diorio, who had one. Matt Roe and Raymond Quinnell each added a sack for the Cobras.
For Shady Hills, Troy Schuldt threw a touchdown to Travis Simpson.
In the mighty mites game, Hudson got two scoring runs from Ronnie Olmstead and one each by Blake Spinks, Tony Germano, Ryan Gallagher and Marcus Martinez for a 38-8 win.
Michael Lizama recovered a fumble and Kevin Bouffard had an interception for Hudson. Brett Ward had Shady Hills' score on a 52-yard run.
Hudson's flyweights won 34-6 behind Cody Matkin. He scored on a quarterback keeper, passed for a touchdown to Austin Havasy, kicked two field goals and had six sacks. Havasy added two touchdown runs and Dylan Luke had a scoring run for the Cobras. Kevin Coulstring had a sack for Hudson.
