Seminole plaza adds hair salon, lunch spot

Two new businesses have opened at Lake Landings Plaza, 10525 Park Blvd., Seminole.

Jennifer Chouinard and her sister, Mary Baltzer, have opened Identity Salon, a full-service hair salon, in Suite 103. "We've always been close, and it's working out well," said Chouinard, 36.

Chouinard and Baltzer owned another Seminole salon, Jenna-Mar, in the 1980s. They decided to close it because of family demands. "Now the children are a little older," said Chouinard, who has twin daughters, now 10. Baltzer has a son, 20.

For the past year, they have worked at Salon 9303, also in Seminole. "We've been renting chairs in other people's salons for a while now, and we felt it was time for us to start our own business again," Chouinard said.

Once Identity Salon is up and running at full speed, the 1,200-square-foot salon will have six hair stations, a nail technician and an aesthetician, who will do eyebrow waxes, facials and other work.

Identity Salon is open Tuesday through Saturday.

At Suite 111 at Lake Landings, Dodi Lantz has opened the Purple Onion.

"I decided to start my own business when I started hitting mid life," said Lantz, 46. "I was ready for a change, and I believed this area needed a high-quality soup, salad and sandwich shop for business people."

Before opening the sandwich shop, Lantz had worked as the office manager for Viking Boat Works in St. Petersburg since 1986. Her background also includes studying culinary classes at St. Petersburg VoTech (now PTEC, Pinellas Technical Institute) as well as serving as appetizer chef for the Veranda in Tampa. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

New store specializes in marine electronics

Chris Turner and Brad Ball have opened Fathoms Offshore Outfitters and Martek Marine Electronics at 201 15th Ave. S, St. Petersburg. The business specializes in sales, service and installation of marine electronics, as well as boating and fishing gear and supplies. Turner co-owns Pass-a-Grille Bait and Tackle on St. Pete Beach. Ball is director of finance for Career Path Training Corp., based in Tampa.

Leftcoast Surveyors announces promotions

Christine Hannon has been named marketing director/office assistant for Leftcoast Surveyors Inc. in St. Petersburg. Before the appointment, Hannon served as regional manager for Gilbert Engineering Inc.'s Florida division. The firm also has named Jose Tirada instrument operator.

CBB Architects names associate principal

Michael R. Gilson has been named associate principal and shareholder at CBB Architects of St. Petersburg. Before the promotion, Gilson served as director of facilities planning and management.
