Petty Officer 3rd Class Benjamin T. Jacoby, son of Brenda C. Jacoby of Sterling, Va., and Edmond M. Jacoby of St. Petersburg, graduated from Naval Aviation Technical Training Command at Pensacola Naval Air Station. He cross-trained as a helicopter crew rescue swimmer and aviation machinist's mate.

He has been assigned to Helicopter Support Squadron II at Norfolk (Va.) Naval Base.

A 2000 graduate of Potomac Falls High School in Sterling, Jacoby completed basic training in March at U.S. Naval Training Center Great Lakes, North Chicago, Ill.

Army Capt. Brian C. Rau, son of Maggie and Christian Rau of St. Petersburg, has relieved Capt. Mathew M. Condry of his command of Howitzer Battery, 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment.

Rau, who received his commission in 1994 from Florida State University, graduated from the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course at Fort Sill, Okla., in 1995. He is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer BasicCourse, the Field Artillery Officer Advanced Course, Airborne School, Jump Master School and the Joint Fire Power Control Course.

His awards include an Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, an Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, a Joint Service Achievement Medal, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and a Senior Parachutist Badge.

Rau is a 1988 graduate of Northeast High School.

Navy Ensign Howard Irwin Pryor II, son of Alvena B. Pryor of St. Petersburg and the late Dr. Howard Irwin Pryor, completed a psychiatry rotation at George Washington University Medical Center, Washington, D.C. Pryor, who is attending the university on a naval scholarship, has begun a surgical rotation.

He graduated with high honors from the University of Miami with a degree in mechanical engineering after graduating from Lakewood High School and St. Petersburg Junior College.
