SCOUTING REPORT: New York is trying to get healthy before its division series next week. Tuesday, Chuck Knoblauch returned from a hyperextended wrist, catcher Jorge Posada came back from a five-game suspension and closer Mariano Rivera pitched for the first time since having a cortisone shot in his right ankle Saturday. Paul O'Neill, out since Sept. 7 with a broken foot, was DH Wednesday, and Andy Pettitte (bruised elbow) threw in the bullpen.

ALL-TIME SERIES: The Yankees are 12-3 this season and lead 37-14 all-time.

TAMPA BAY CONNECTIONS: New York first baseman Tino Martinez is a Tampa native. Owner George Steinbrenner is a resident. Rays reliever Victor Zambrano spent two seasons as a Yankees minor-league infielder. Former Rays outfielder Gerald Williams is batting .178 in 35 games. Yankees bench coach Don Zimmer is a longtime Treasure Island resident.

WHO'S HOT: Shortstop Derek Jeter is batting .393 (11-for-28) with seven runs and five RBI in his past seven games.

WHO'S NOT: David Justice is batting .097 (3-for-31) in his past 10 games.
