Candidate wants inquiry into reportINVERNESS -- Scott Adams, former Republican candidate for County Commission, has asked the Sheriff's Office to investigate whether several people conspired to file a false police report against him shortly before the runoff election Tuesday. Ronnie Ann Heckert filed a report with the Sheriff's Office over the weekend, alleging that Adams pressured her into sex two years ago after the two used cocaine. The Sheriff's Office and the State Attorney's Office declined to pursue the matter. Heckert came forward with the support of Dala D. White, a former Adams employee who has her own disputes with Adams. Adams said he thinks his GOP opponent, Millie King, also was involved. King, who defeated Adams in the runoff, would not comment on Adams' request for an investigation. "As far as I'm concerned, Mr. Adams is history," King said. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
