Man charged with throwing wrench

ODESSA -- A 39-year-old Odessa man was charged Sept. 28 with throwing a deadly missile after he allegedly hurled a wrench at a teenager with whom he had an argument at a local convenience store, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Around 11:40 p.m. Christopher James, of 2604 Copeland Road, and Phillip Christian, 18, of 14023 Gunn Highway were screaming and cursing at one another at the Gunn and South Mobley Road Speedway when James allegedly said, "I got a knife and I'm going to cut your eyes out."

Christian, who was with an 18-year-old female, told deputies he initially thought the wrench James pulled out of his pocket and threw at his car was a knife. James, facing a felony charge, was arrested at the store. He still was being held Wednesday in jail on $10,000 bail.

Westchase association loses tools to theft

WESTCHASE -- Burglars broke into the Westchase Homeowners Association's maintenance facility between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning, stealing tools valued at $1,775, the Sheriff's Office said.

The thieves went through a secured fence and equipment trailer, taking three landscaping edgers valued at $475, two hedgetrimmers valued at $500, two backpack blowers valued at $500 and one chainsaw valued at $300.
