LENNY AND ME AT SKIPPER'S:
This band plays the kind of music you might hear at a Jimmy Buffett or James Taylor concert. It's a mix of Latin, folk, blues, twang and rock 'n' roll.
Lenny Emory began playing guitar in the fifth grade; he also plays the banjo and ukulele. Other band members: his wife, Marilyn Torrens, a Puerto Rican native who adds a Latin flavor with her congas, maracas, tambourine, guiro, castanuelas and vocals; Wayne Thompson, a native Floridian, on drums; and Tom Plidie from Cleveland on electric bass.
The band has toured nationally and is working on its fourth recording. The concert will feature songs such as Pop White, Kokomo Joe and Okeechobee Gold. The music starts at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road. The cost is $5 at the door. For information, call (813) 971-0666.
Have your own personal chef prepare dinner for you in his home.
