The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is forming an alumni association for graduates of the citizens law enforcement academy.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is forming an alumni association for graduates of the citizens law enforcement academy.

In order to form the association, sheriff's officials are soliciting alumni to join a steering committee, which will write by-laws and elect officers. The first meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Land O'Lakes county jail.

The goal of the alumni association is to promote the academy, provider volunteers for the Sheriff's Office and support the Sheriff's Office.

The academy is a free 12-week program with one three-hour class a week. It teaches about the Sheriff's Office's inner workings.

Those interested in joining may call detective Dan Dede at (727) 847-5878 ext. 6291.
