ALABAMA-BIRMINGHAM at CENTRAL FLORIDA

WHEN/WHERE: 6 p.m.; Citrus Bowl, Orlando.

RECORDS: UAB 2-2, UCF 1-3.

COACHES: UAB -- Watson Brown (33-37, seventh season). UCF -- Mike Kruczek (21-16, fourth season).

LINE: UAB by 21/2. NOTES: UCF never has waited so long for its home opener, but the Louisiana-Lafayette game was postponed from its Sept. 15 date to Nov. 24 because of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. UCF is ranked 16th in passing offense and meets a defense ranked seventh in the nation..

FLORIDA A&M VS. SOUTH CAROLINA STATE

WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m.; Alltel Stadium, Jacksonville.

RECORDS: SCS 1-2, 0-0 MEAC; FAMU 3-1, 3-0. COACHES: SCS -- Willie Jeffries (123-74-4, 18th season). FAMU -- Billy Joe (66-24, eighth season).

NOTES: FAMU continues its slow climb up the rankings. The Rattlers are No. 17 in the Sports Network Division I-AA poll and No. 6 in the Sheridan Broadcasting Historically Black College Football Poll. This week, conference play heats up against South Carolina State.

BETHUNE-COOKMAN at DELAWARE STATE

WHEN/WHERE: Noon; Veterans Stadium, Philadelphia.

RECORDS: B-CC 3-1, 2-0 MEAC; DSU -- 1-3, 0-2.

COACHES: B-CC -- Alvin Wyatt (31-18, fifth season). DSU -- Ben Blacknall (8-7, second season).

NOTES: The last thing B-CC needs is an upset in this conference game, which is what Delaware State did in a 43-29 win in 1999. B-CC's "Wyattbone" offense leads the MEAC with 1,731 yards. Delaware State's "wings and things" offense has to run the ball to succeed, and its 776-yard total is third best in the conference.
