Historical perspectives in three nearby art shows
© St. Petersburg Times, Orlando's "Grandma Moses in the 21st Century" is one of three outstanding exhibits that are each an easy day trip from the bay area. The others: "Once in Our Lifetime: 19th Century Masterworks," Appleton Museum of Art, Ocala, through Dec. 6. On view are 22 works by Monet, Renoir, Cezanne, Van Gogh and others, on loan from the Art Gallery of Ontario. Tickets may be purchased by phone, toll-free at 1-877-700-6692, or online at www.appletonmuseum.org. "One Nation: Patriots and Pirates Portrayed by N.C. Wyeth and James Wyeth," Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota, Thursday through Jan. 6. Organized by the Farnsworth Art Museum and Wyeth Center, Rockland, Maine, the show reflects changing attitudes toward patriotism through works by two members of America's best-known family of artists.
