    Pain seminars planned for health care professionals

    Hospice of the Florida Suncoast is offering a four-week series of pain and symptom relief seminars in October to introduce health care professions to the basics of palliation in pain and symptom management.

    The remaining class dates are: Tuesday, Oct. 17 and 24 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the hospice's Education Pavilion, 300 East Bay Drive, Largo. Each seminar costs $30. On completing this series, health care practitioners will have an increased understanding of pain management, the effects of pain on both patient and family, innovations to assist in care planning, recognition of medication and treatment side effects and strategies to reduce complications from pain management.

    Toastmasters Club plans public speaking workshop

    Speak Easy Toastmasters Club 4698 holds a six-week public speaking workshop beginning at 6:15 p.m. Monday at Royal King Buffet Restaurant, 7610 49th St. N, Pinellas Park.

    There is a $20 materials fee, and the class will be held on consecutive Mondays. Call 581-9730 or 536-3392 for information or to register.

    Recreation center plans bus trip to Sea World

    SEMINOLE -- Spend the day at Sea World in Orlando with adults from the Seminole Recreation Center on Oct. 19.

    The bus leaves the center at 9 a.m. and returns at 6 p.m. Cost: $44, which includes park admission and bus transportation. Lunch is on your own. Space is limited, so advance registration is necessary. Deadline is Monday. Call 391-8345.
