Hurricane support

About 100 former Hurricanes, including Jim Kelly, Michael Irvin and Bernie Kosar, crammed onto the 80-yard-long boxes on either side of the sideline space for the Miami players.

Like old times ... sort of

Kelly went to midfield for the opening coin toss, not to make the call as he would have as a player nearly two decades ago, but to flip it. The Seminoles won the toss and deferred.

Three over 100 yards receiving

FSU receivers Atrews Bell, Marvin Minnis and Anquan Boldin each surpassed 100 yards and finished with career games. Bell had six catches for 146 yards and one touchdown, Minnis had seven for 145 and Boldin had six for 108 and two scores.

It's not the heat, it's the humidity

Miami senior middle linebacker Dan Morgan and senior tailback James Jackson left with dehydration in the third quarter. Both returned early in the fourth; Jackson gained 16 yards on his first play.

Quotable

"Once we scored the last touchdown, we were hoping we wouldn't have to go back out on the field, but they executed perfectly. They played a great football game." -- FSU senior quarterback Chris Weinke.
