Veterans-in-the-Classroom program needs volunteersBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published October 9, 2000 INVERNESS -- The Veterans Appreciation Week Ad Hoc Coordinating Committee will conduct its annual Veterans-in-the-Classroom program, Oct. 30 through Nov. 10, as part of its eighth annual Veterans Appreciation Week activities. The Veterans-in-the-Classroom program brings living history to students with veterans sharing their first-hand military experiences during peace and war. In 1999 the program hosted more than 130 classroom presentations to public and private schools and the county's homeschoolers. The program's success has generated the need for additional veterans to participate as guest classroom speakers. This year's Veterans Appreciation Week theme is Citrus County's 5Oth Anniversary Salute To Korean War Veterans. Korean War veterans are especially urged to participate in the Veterans-in-the-Classroom program. Persian Gulf, Viet Nam, Air Force and women veterans also are greatly needed as participants. Interested veterans should call Chairman Curt Ebitz at 382-3847. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
