Land O'Lakes Garden Club meets at community center

Members of the Land O'Lakes Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Land O'Lakes Community Center on U.S. 41. Bernice Bennett will speak at the meeting. There will be a plant auction and white elephant sale after the meeting. Hostesses will be Eleanor Basil, Bernice Bennett, Julia Azilagyi and Marie Woody. Visitors are welcome. Women's group holding card luncheon in Lutz

The General Federation of Women's Club International Lutz-Land O'Lakes Woman's Club will hold a card luncheon on Thursday at the Lutz Community Center on U.S. 41 and Lutz Lake Fern Road. Card games begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m. Lunch is served at noon for $4. The public is invited. For information, call (813) 949-5689.

Chili contest's winning cook gets $200

Keith Clark took first place in the Chili Cook-Off at the Shady Hills September Festival last weekend. Second place went to Rhonda Egelston and third to Carol Trani. Clark won $200 for his recipe, Egelston won $100 and Trani took home $50.

Fern Garden Club of Odessa having plant sale

Members of the Fern Garden Club of Odessa will have their annual plant sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at Keystone Park, 17928 Gunn Highway. There will be a variety of plants for sale at reasonable prices. Hot dogs, cold drinks and baked goods will be sold. People who bring clean, unused flower or plant pots to be recycled will receive a coupon toward the purchase of a plant. For information, call Sara Owen, (813) 908-2187.

Antique car, truck show set for Oct. 22

The Heritage Park Foundation has rescheduled the Antique and Classic Car and Truck Show for Oct. 22 in the parking lot of the Winn Dixie Marketplace, State Road 54 and Collier Parkway in Land O'Lakes. Registration is from 8 a.m. to noon with the event scheduled until 3 p.m. Pre-registration is $10; registration $12 on the day of the show with proceeds benefiting the development of the Heritage Park Foundation. Awards will be presented to the top five cars 1980 to present and for the top 50 cars 1979 and older. Other awards will go to the top three trucks, best engine, best of show, best interior, best paint and club participation. Winn Dixie will present a Choice Award, and there will be 60 dash plaques awarded. There will be drawings for door prizes throughout the day and refreshments will be available. School announces students of month

Students of the Month at Denham Oaks Elementary are Julliet Martinez, Stephanie Martinez, Jacob Courchaine, Rachel Dippel, Jessica Courchaine and Amanda Dallas. Expressionist contest winners for September are Ashley Parater, first place; David Vente, second place; Johnny Dunbar, third place and Caitlin Ruddy, fourth place.

Chamber of Commerce set for meeting, mixer

The Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce will have a mixer from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Healing Touch Skin Care, 1523 Dale Mabry Highway. The October general meeting of the chamber is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Lakeside Restaurant, U.S. 41 in Land O'Lakes. Two golf tournaments set for weekend of Oct. 21-22

Two golf tournaments are scheduled for the weekend of Oct. 21-22. The Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce will have the Honorary Mayor Tournament on Saturday with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. at the Lexington Oaks Golf and Country Club. It is a four-person scramble, best-ball tournament with proceeds benefiting the chamber. Cost is $55. For information, call Bill Allen at (813) 979-6979. A golf tournament to benefit Land O'Lakes High School Band and Guard is planned for Sunday at the Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club, 10641 Old Tampa Bay Drive in San Antonio. FallFest family festival is Oct. 14

The fourth annual FallFest family festival at the Regency Park Library, 9701 Little Road, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 14. There will be a book sale, crafters, a magic show by Magician Hoodanny, music by Harry Dash and ShanN, pony rides and a Halloween costume parade for the children.
