FAMU business school needs changes, audit says
TALLAHASSEE -- Florida A&M University must revamp its business school before receiving accreditation, an evaluation found. The school must alleviate crowding and raise the bar for faculty research and development, among other shortcomings found by the AACSB -- The International Association for Management Education. The business school evaluator said FAMU needs to provide technology support, establish more faculty outreach programs, develop a clearer mission and keep better records of its progress before it will be accredited. The Board of Regents has required all universities to seek accreditation for programs where available.
Woman crashes squad car after arrest in stolen car
MIAMI -- A woman was in critical condition Sunday after crashing a police cruiser she stole as she was being arrested for driving a stolen luxury car. Miami Police Officer Carlos Mendez said he became suspicious when he saw Jenny Anderson, a known prostitute, driving a Mercedes Benz, so he stopped the vehicle. Mendez found the Mercedes was stolen, and he arrested Anderson, cuffing her hands behind her back and putting her in his squad car. As Mendez checked the stolen car, Anderson slipped her hands to the front of her body and took off with Mendez's cruiser. Mendez sped off after Anderson. About 12 blocks away, Anderson crashed.
