ST. PETERSBURG -- A weekend chase that began in Clearwater ended with two drug arrests in St. Petersburg.

Police arrested Lindsey Antwon Wilkins, 25, and a juvenile at their home, 2235 1/2 Third Ave. N, shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, said spokesman Dan Bates. Wilkins was charged with possessing several rocks of cocaine and fewer than 20 grams of marijuana. The 17-year-old male was charged with possessing several rocks of cocaine.

The 17-year-old also was charged by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office with felony fleeing and eluding police, said spokeswoman Marianne Pasha.

Sheriff's deputies first spotted the juvenile driving recklessly at McMullen Booth Road and Drew Street, Pasha said. Police checked the license plate of the 1992 two-door Chevrolet and found it to be a stolen plate.

Two police cruisers followed the car west on Drew Street and attempted to stop it at the intersection of U.S. 19. The Chevy ran a red light at the intersection and continued south on U.S. 19, Pasha said.

A helicopter replaced the police cruisers on U.S. 19, shining a light on the Chevy and following it to St. Petersburg. The car stopped at 2233 Third Ave. N, and the men ran to 22351/2 Third Ave. N.

St. Petersburg police chased the men down the street to their home, where they arrested them on the drug charges.

Both were taken to the Pinellas County Jail. Wilkins posted $5,150 bail at 1:30 p.m. Monday and was released. The jail declined to say whether the juvenile was being held in the juvenile detention center.
