Animal foundation ball set for Saturday

SEMINOLE -- Prepare to have a doggone good time at the second annual BOWser Ball and auction, sponsored by the Pinellas Animal Foundation in Seminole.

The event will be Saturday in the Grand Ballroom of the Belleview Biltmore Resort Hotel and Spa, 25 Belleview Blvd., Belleair. Black tie is optional. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

The evening will include a buffet dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions and games. The Pinellas Animal Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the lives of pets and their owners through educational programs. The foundation also sponsors a program in Pinellas County schools, Pinellas Pet Education Partnership -- or the Pet Professor Program -- in which trained teacher representatives present the values of responsible pet ownership.

In the 1998-99 school year, for instance, more than 57,000 public and private school students in the Tampa Bay area participated. All of the proceeds from the event will go toward educational programs about proper animal care and owner responsibilities, including the construction of the Phase II expansion of the Pinellas Animal Foundation's existing exhibit at Great Explorations: The Hands On Museum in St. Petersburg.

Tickets are $60 per person; $550 for a table of 10 or $650 for a table of 12. For reservation information, call the foundation at 347-7387. Or mail your check for the amount of people attending, payable to the Pinellas Animal Foundation, Unit A-3, 10825 Seminole Blvd., Seminole, FL 33778.
