Dixie Hollins students win graphic arts awards

Three Dixie Hollins High School Graphic Arts Academy students received recognition for outstanding achievement in the student division of the 14th annual FloridaPrint Awards.

Industry professionals from Indiana, Maryland and Missouri awarded Andy Thoman Best of Category in the single color printing category. Andy Chee received an Award of Excellence for spot color and Judges Honorable Mention for spot color and single color. Mike Dura received Judges Honorable Mention for spot color.

Their work was selected from 92 entries submitted by 14 Florida schools.

The FloridaPrint Awards are the printing industry's largest statewide graphic arts competition, recognizing individuals, companies and organizations responsible for the creation or production of print communications.

Pinellas Park girl takes honors at horse show

Ashley Hamilton, daughter of Pam and Danny Hamilton of Pinellas Park, won Top 10 honors at the ninth annual Youth National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show in Albuquerque, N.M.

In her first year of national competition, Ashley rode show horse BMR Some Like It Hot in the United Professional Horse Association Challenge Cup class. She was judged on general horsemanship, including command execution and poise.

Ashley, 17, is a senior at Shorecrest Preparatory School.
