Police reportsBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published October 11, 2000 Intruder leaves behind foot in couple's homeWESLEY CHAPEL -- Whoever broke into Paul Gannon's home Sunday apparently didn't steal anything. But the would-be burglar did leave something behind. In his haste to flee from a barking dog, the intruder left behind a plastic foot. "I think it was a right foot," Gannon said Monday. Gannon said he and his wife were working in their back yard when they heard their dog barking. They found the front door of their home open and the bogus appendage inside on the floor, a report stated. Gannon said Monday he thought the foot was probably a Halloween decoration taken from a house down the street. Gannon told Pasco County sheriff's deputies that he had heard a car door shut and then went outside and saw a white 1970s model Country Squire leaving the neighborhood. Gannon reported nothing missing from his house. Video store owner faces charges in stalking caseLAND O'LAKES -- A Tampa man accused of threatening to kill his wife and her 5-year-old at a video store was arrested Monday, according to Pasco County sheriff's deputies. Jerry Howsmon, 48, was charged with aggravated stalking, carrying a concealed weapon and operating a vehicle with a suspended license. He was taken into custody after making threatening phone calls and showing up at the A1 Video store he and his wife own in Land O'Lakes, the report stated. Howsmon also threatened to shoot a customer while in the store, the report states. Howsmon was taken to Land O'Lakes jail where he remained Tuesday night in lieu of $35,500 bond. Joe Tripp, the construction supervisor, told deputies he locked the house on Friday but noticed Monday morning that the microwave had been stolen. The house is an expansion area of the subdivision where no residents live yet. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
