    Halloween luncheon deadline is today

    SEMINOLE -- Today is the deadline to sign up for a Halloween luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Seminole Recreation Center, 9100 113th St. N. The luncheon for adults will be catered. Cost: $5 per person. Register with the Recreation Center, 391-8345.

    Sun Coast Hospital plans health events

    LARGO -- Several health-related events are scheduled this month at Sun Coast Hospital, 2025 Indian Rocks Road, Largo. On Friday, Philip W. Christ, DO, an orthopedic specialist, will discuss joint replacements. The free event will be at noon in the main floor meeting room. Women cancer survivors, especially those whose treatment has caused hair loss, changes in skin tone or loss of skin moisture, are invited to participate in a free Look Good, Feel Better workshop from 10 a.m to noon Wednesday in the hospital's main floor meeting room. A professional cosmetologist will discuss makeup and hairstyle techniques, skin care and the use of wigs, scarves and turbans. Each participant will receive a free makeup kit. The program, sponsored by the American Cancer Society and the National Cosmetology Association, is free, but reservations are required by calling 586-7197. Jennifer Beale, nurse manager of Sun Coast Hospital's Wound Healing Center, will discuss wound care at noon on Oct. 27 in the main floor meeting room. The event is free. An osteoporosis assessment for people 40 and older will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20 in the hospital's main lobby. Cost is $10. Screening results will be available immediately and participants will receive individual counseling. Reservations are needed and can be made by calling the hospital, 587-7642.
