County commissioners heard the following petitions last Tuesday:

CITRUS PARK: Thomas Development Inc. won approval to develop a 91-home subdivision on 49 acres at the northern end of Bellamy Road. County staff, the Planning Commission and a zoning hearing master had endorsed the project. (Petition 01-0957)

KEYSTONE: Commissioners denied a rezoning request to allow a small-scale supermarket, retail space and estate homes at the corner of Gunn Highway and Tarpon Springs Road. County staffers and a zoning hearing master had recommended denial of the project. (Petition 01-0051)

CROSS CREEK: Gene Thomason will expand a proposed office park planned for nearly 8 acres south of Cross Creek Boulevard, near Brookron Drive. County staffers and a zoning hearing master had endorsed the expansion. (Petition 01-576).

ODESSA: Wide Angle Commercial Enterprises may develop homes, condos and duplexes on 25 acres on Van Dyke Road, north of the Veterans Expressway. County staffers and a zoning hearing master had endorsed the plan. (Petition 01-1057)

WESTCHASE: Commissioners okayed Countrychase Veterinary Clinic's request to operate a 5,000-square-foot freestanding veterinary office at a commerce park on Linebaugh Avenue. County staff, the Planning Commission and a zoning hearing master had approved of the project. (Petition 01-1055)

LUTZ: Burcaw & Associates may split a 0.97-acre parcel at the northwest corner of 15th Street and 149th Avenue into two residential lots. County staff, the Planning Commission and a zoning hearing master had endorsed the petition. (Petition 01-0963)

Zoning hearing master Martin H. Smith Jr. recently endorsed the following petitions:

LUTZ: Tampa Land Group won Smith's endorsement for 650 apartments and 71,000 square feet of office space proposed for 70 acres on N Dale Mabry Highway, east of Calusa Trace. Although there was public testimony about traffic concerns, Smith notes in his recommendation that there's no evidence that traffic exiting the proposed development would negatively impact the Calusa Trace community. (Petition 01-0962)

NORTHDALE: The Bob Sierra YMCA wants to develop a recreation center on a Ragg Road site now occupied by St. Timothy's Catholic Church. Plans include an aquatic center, educational center, child care facility, ball fields and a playground. Smith did propose several conditions on the development, including limiting outdoor lighting in the pool area. (Petition 01-1173)

A land use hearing officer was scheduled to hear the following petitions last Friday:

WESTCHASE: Bellagio Restaurant and Pizza is seeking a permit to allow beer and wine sales at its planned 2,884-square-foot restaurant on Montague Street in West Park Village. County staff recommended approval. (Petition 01-1323).

KEYSTONE: Alejo Holdings wants to eliminate sidewalks from development plans of a 45-home subdivision planned for Boy Scout Road, west of Crawley Road. It also seeks to nix plans for sidewalks along Boy Scout Road. (Petition 01-1394)
