WRITING CONTEST: The GFWC Lutz-Land O'Lakes Woman's Club will sponsor the GFWC Youth Writing Contest for students in Hillsborough and Pasco counties. Students in grades 1 through 12 may enter one poem and/or one short story. Poems must be between 8 and 30 lines and may be written in any style. Short stories are limited to 2,000 words. A $50 U.S. Savings Bond will be awarded to winners in each category. Entries must be submitted by Nov. 30 to Nancy Jaszczak, 2516 Shorewood Lane, Land O'Lakes, FL., 34639. CROSSING GUARDS NEEDED: The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office needs school crossing guards at 12 county schools, including Carrollwood Elementary, Claywell Elementary and Hunter's Green Elementary. Guards are paid $7.82 an hour for two hours a day, five days a week. Uniforms, equipment and training are provided.
