Fly boys
FSU alumni Lt. Col. Joe Dunaway (Class of 1967), Maj. Frank Kirkpatrick (Class of '84), Capt. Joe Faheley (Class of '87) and Capt. Rob Valle (Class of '92) flew their Air Force F-16s over Doak Campbell Stadium to provide a stirring punctuation to the national anthem.
For the 11th straight year, students and alumni from FSU's Panama City campus passed a torch from one another beginning Friday and carried it the 100 miles to Doak Campbell Stadium to light Chief Osceola's spear.
The Seminoles have not lost a homecoming game since Bobby Bowden took over the program in 1976. Their last homecoming loss came to Miami, 24-22, Nov.15, 1975.
Duke is 0-15 against the Associated Press Top 25 since it beat then No. 13 Virginia, 28-25, Nov. 5, 1994. That was the Blue Devils' last winning season; they finished 8-4, including a loss to Wisconsin in the Hall of Fame Bowl (now Outback Bowl).
"It's not their fault. They're inexperienced. We had just every advantage -- too much skill and mature skill. We had every advantage in the world."
-- FSU coach Bobby Bowden.
