ANTHRAX (THE BAND) VS. ANTHRAX (THE DISEASE): So begins a statement posted on the home page of the Web site for the thrash metal band that's been around since 1981.

"In the twenty years we've been known as Anthrax, we never thought the day would come that our name would actually mean what it really means," the statement signed by band members Scott Ian, Frank Bello, John Bush and Charlie Benante says.

The name was adopted to differentiate the group from the "-er" metal bands -- Ripper, Killers, Deceiver.

"Anthrax sounded cool, aggressive, and nobody knew what it was," they say. "Suddenly our name is not so cool."

They have no plans to change it. Their hope is that "no further negative events will happen . . . and we all grow old and fat together."

BABALOO!: At 9 tonight on TVLand, I Love Lucy returns to prime time 50 years to the moment it debuted on CBS.

THE PERILS OF BEING A GOSSIP COLUMNIST: Msnbc.com's Jeannette Walls posted this as her only column entry for Oct. 10:

"In my July 23 column I may have left readers with the impression that Clint Eastwood's marriage to Dina Ruiz was foundering. Mr. Eastwood and Ms. Ruiz have informed MSNBC that theirs is a 'fantastic marriage' and is sound and happy. We apologize for any distress Scoop may have caused Mr. Eastwood, Ms. Ruiz and their family."

READY FOR THE NEXT ONE: Vanity Fair's fashion department has distributed to its employees a "disaster kit" that includes Puma running shoes, a flashlight, a dust mask, a whistle, a kerchief and a pocketknife.

The distribution was preceded by an employee memo that said, according to the New York Post: "We, the fashion department, wanted to somehow help . . . in case of an emergency. What exactly could we contribute? Well, shoes, shoes, shoes! . . . We also know that Manolos may look amazing on, but let's face it, if ever we need to move faster then a turtle, they would not do the trick."
