Digimon fans get it; I don'tBy BILLY NORRIS © St. Petersburg Times, published October 16, 2000 Movie: Digimon: The Movie Rating: PG Summary: To tell you the honest truth, I was so confused by this movie, I had absolutely no clue what was going on throughout most of it. That makes the task of writing a summary pretty difficult! The only thing I could pick out of this entire jumble called Digimon was that the main character's mom liked to fix strange things to eat. Everything else made about as much sense to me as potato juice and beef jerky shakes (two of Tai's mom's favorite treats). My view: I needed a little bit of help describing this movie, so I asked a few other kids who watched this flick at the Seminole AMC 8 Theater for some assistance. "This movie was cool," said Sara Bell, 13, "but I would only give it a "B' because some parts were really dumb. The rest of it was really cool, though." As I said, I had sort of a hard time, well, a really hard time understanding this movie. This was probably because I am not a fan of the so-called "digital monsters" (and their human friends) whatsoever. "I am a BIG Digimon fan. I didn't get mixed up at all," said Robin Bell, 10. I know Digimon is also a television cartoon, so I asked Patrick Peacock, 9, how the movie compared. "The movie's better! I will rent it or probably buy it when it comes out on video." I had one final question. I wondered which these experts think is better: Digimon or Pokemon? "DIGIMON!" they replied in unison. Favorite part: I can't say that I really liked any part of this movie, but there was one thing that made it a little easier to cope with. Unlike the Pokemon movies, this movie seemed as though it was geared toward an older audience. A lot of it was about computers, the Internet and even boyfriends and girlfriends, things kids are interested in. Least favorite part: The whole movie was not exactly what I would call a fun experience. Recommendations: This movie is only for Digimon fans!
