Tampa Bay briefsBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published October 18, 2000 Murder suspect arrested after standoffTAMPA -- Dozens of federal and local law enforcement officers surrounded a Town 'N Country home Tuesday morning while a murder suspect kept them at bay for nearly two hours. The standoff, at 6026 W Burke St., ended quietly shortly after noon. The man, 27-year-old Angel Luis Pagan, was taken into custody on a warrant from Springfield, Mass. Sheriff's spokesman Rod Reder said the standoff began about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday when members of the U.S. Marshal's Service attempted to serve the warrant. While a 12-year-old boy was released from the home, Reder said, Pagan refused to come out, and about 35 officers responded. After negotiations, Reder said, Pagan gave up and was being held Tuesday without bond. Reder said Pagan is accused of an Oct. 20, 1994, home invasion and slaying in Springfield.
