New in town
New places for familiar faces on Fourth Street N stretch out St. Petersburg's Restaurant Row:
Fray's Donut House, the home-grown improvement on Krispy Kreme, has third spot for big fresh glazed (9049 Fourth St. N, St. Petersburg; 727-578-8840).
Fans of the Italian Pavilion, once in the Gateway area, can find it now at Cocoanut Grove Plaza (2900 Fourth St. N, St. Petersburg).
Athenian Gardens, old favorite on St. Petersburg's west side, is trying Greek-to-go, using the former Steak-Out to make salads, gyros and more for take-out and delivery only. (9939 Fourth St. N, 727-570-4500).
New names
Sutherland Cafe gets personal in an e-mail sense and now calls itself eric's@sutherland (1026 Florida Ave., Palm Harbor; 727-787-7734). Chef and owner Eric Webber has also dropped lunch and is now open for dinner seven nights a week.
Tampa's sleek new Chinese, which opened as Albert's Asian Bistro, is now T.C. Choy's (301 S Howard Ave., Tampa; 813-251-1191). Albert is still at the door and now there's sushi, a full bar and plans for patio seating and afternoon tea.
86'ed
Now off Tampa's menu: Cappy's smoke house and butcher shop on West Shore and the tandem of Paluzzi's and McHale's Chop House on S Howard.
I'll have another
Stone crab claw . . . Boats along the Gulf coast have pulled their first traps, and restaurants will be bringing them to the tables starting this weekend. Look for best prices at restaurant stone crab feasts.
