2. L.I.E. -- Excellent performances and balanced screenwriting make this tale of a pedophile and his prey more compelling than you'd think. Channelside Cinemas only.
3. From Hell -- Twin brothers Allen and Albert Hughes depict a menace to another society: Jack the Ripper. Johnny Depp stars as an opium-addled psychic.
4. Iron Monkey -- Martial arts mayhem defying gravity and logic. Directed by Yuen Woo Ping, choreographer of fight scenes in The Matrix and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
5.Training Day -- Denzel Washington's raging portrayal of a corrupt narcotics cop is one of the year's best performances. Ethan Hawke co-stars as a naive rookie in a stylish crime yarn.
