Teen arrested, charged in drive-by slaying
TAMPA -- Deputies have charged a Tampa teenager with a drive-by shooting in December that killed an 18-year-old woman in her Clair Mel home.
Sheriff's spokesman Rod Reder said Barry Joseph Johnson, 17, of 1633 58th St. S, was arrested at his home Tuesday and charged with with second-degree murder in the death of Niquila Roberts.
Reder said that on Dec. 28, 1999, Roberts was standing in a room at her home at 7404 Wishing Well Court when Johnson drove by and fired several shots into the home.
Roberts was hit in the upper body, Reder said, and witnesses have identified Johnson.
