Three women accused of theft from man, 71
DADE CITY -- Three Dade City women were arrested early Wednesday morning after they allegedly stole a VCR, TV/VCR unit, and a satellite receiver from the home of a 71-year-old man, a report stated.
Heather Marie Price, 23, of 14836 Blanton St., Tina Louise Jernigan, 23, of 15109 Hill Road, and Juliene Corrina Hickman, 22, of23rd Street, were charged with exploitation of the elderly and petty theft.
Sheriff's spokesman Jon Powers said that on Tuesday the trio went to the Dade City home of Robert Scholl, whom they had known for some time, with the intent of stealing from him.
Powers said Hickman lured Scholl into a back room of his home by telling him she needed to talk to him privately about some personal matters.
Meanwhile, Jernigan and Price stole the property, Powers said. The three women then fled in a white Oldsmobile, the report stated.
They were arrested about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, and deputies returned the property to Scholl.
Each was being held Wednesday night at the county jail in Land O'Lakes on $10,500 bail.
ZEPHYRHILLS -- Pasco County sheriff's deputies were searching Tuesday for a suspect who robbed a Zephyrhills man at gunpoint.
Cliffton Lane, 20, told deputies he was near Brown Street and Riley Street trying to buy back a watch his brother had traded for crack.
An unknown black man approached Lane and said he would go get the watch and return it. When the man returned, he pulled a semiautomatic pistol, demanded $140 from Lane and stole a 20-inch gold chain from his neck, a report stated.
Lane then fled the scene and contacted authorities, said sheriff's deputies.
The suspect is listed as about 5 feet 8 and roughly 140 pounds with short curly hair.
LAND O'LAKES -- Pasco County sheriff's deputies were searching for two suspects who jumped a Land O'Lakes man in his driveway Tuesday and stole $50 from him.
John Hamilton, 18, told sheriff's deputies that he had returned from bowling around 11:30 p.m. when he noticed a white male with a blue baseball cap approaching him. He said a black man with an Afro hairstyle and a goatee then cut through a flower bed and dragged him to the end of the driveway.
Hamilton told sheriff's deputies that the man then threw him on the ground and took the contents of his right front pocket, which contained a $50 bill.
The black man and Hamilton then exchanged punches, after which the two suspects fled west on Billingham Drive, a report said.
The white suspect is listed as about 5 feet 8 and 140 pounds. The black man is listed as about 6 feet 3 and 180 pounds.
