TAMPA -- Junior Brian Mullins had an assist and the game-winning goal as South Florida defeated UNC-Greensboro at the Greensboro Tournament last weekend.

The Bulls followed that win with a 5-0 loss against No. 9 North Carolina. Ranked 18th in the lastest NSCAA poll, the Bulls (10-2, 3-1) get a chance to make up ground in the conference Saturday when they play at St. Louis. The first-place Billikens are 9-0 overall and 5-0 in the conference and ranked third nationally.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: The Bulls dropped two C-USA matches last weekend to extend their losing streak to three and fall to 10th place in the league standings. Despite goals from Aleia Long, Laura Tucker and Christine Koester, the Bulls fell 4-3 to Texas Christian on Oct. 12. They followed that with a 2-1 double-overtime loss to Houston. Freshman Kim Martins scored her first collegiate goal in the game.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: The Bulls, running at the Furman Invitational in South Carolina against 12 of the nation's top 25 squads, placed 13th in the purple division race and 26th overall.

Still ranked No. 1 in the South Region, USF was lead by Kristy Fuller, who placed 19th in 21 minutes, 53 seconds.

WOMEN'S GOLF: Fany Schaeffer tied the women's course record with her 67 last Friday at the Beacon Woods Invitational at Bayonet Point. But the 69 she fired two days later was more important as she came from behind to post the individual win.

Schaeffer helped the Bulls to a second-place team finish, 12 strokes behind tournament champion Mississippi. Katie Ruhe, Kelly Martin and Jameica Duncombe also finished in the top 20 for USF.
