Subway Series? Well, sort of

By MARC TOPKIN

NEW YORK -- They're calling it the Subway Series, but it is a bit of a misnomer.

You can't really get there from here. At least not directly anyway.

Yankee Stadium, which is in the Bronx, and Shea Stadium, which is in Queens, are both on the subway lines, but there is no direct service between the two.

To travel back and forth, you would have to ride into Manhattan and back out.

From Grand Central Station in midtown, it is about a 25-minute ride on the No. 4 train to the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium stop. The trip to Shea Stadium on the No. 7 train, the one made famous by Atlanta's John Rocker, takes about 35 minutes.

The fare is $1.50, and transfers are free.
