Citrus briefsBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published October 22, 2000 Principal will speak at Friendship DinnerCITRUS HILLS -- Teretta Charles, principal of Inverness Primary School and Altrusa Educator of the Year, will be the featured speaker Nov. 4 at a Friendship Dinner at 6:30 p.m. at Andre's of Citrus Hills. Mrs. Charles will speak as a mother and educator on the topic, "It Takes a Village to Raise a Child -- Perspectives on Seeing African American Males Through Life, by an African American mother, educator and liturgical leader." Seating for the dinner, sponsored by FOCUS, is limited. Only the first 75 reservations can be accepted.Call 726-4751. The Friendship Dinner is one of a series sponsored by FOCUS, an organization with the mission of promoting intercultural understanding and friendship. FOCUS, standing for Focus On CommUnity Solidarity, had its beginning in 1998 following a community forum on the subject of "Healing of Racism" sponsored by the InterFaith Council.
