Shana Erin Harrington, daughter of Brian and Nancy Harrington of St. Petersburg, received her master's degree in physical therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Harrington is a 1994 graduate of St. Petersburg Catholic High School and a 1998 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Robert Weil, son of Robert and Beverly Weil of St. Petersburg, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from La Sertoma International after receiving the Youth Leadership Honorarium from the St. Petersburg La Sertoma Club.

A 2000 graduate of Gibbs High School, Weil is included in Who's Who Among American High School Students and Who's Who in High School Sports All Stars. He was captain of the varsity football team and a member of the International Thespian Society, Future Business Leaders of America and Students Against Drunk Driving. He placed third in the St. Petersburg Times' Healing Hands contest.

His community service efforts include tutoring a hearing impaired student and painting and repairing homes for the needy in Georgia.

Weil is a freshman at the University of South Florida majoring in mass communications.

John Nguyen, son of Huong (Kim) and Joan Nguyen of St. Petersburg, received the 2000 Joseph C. Coney Minority Memorial Scholarship from the Paradyne Corp. The annual $2,000 scholarship is awarded to the son or daughter of a Paradyne employee. Selection criteria include academic achievement, school and community activities, and future goals.

Nguyen, a senior at Boca Ciega High School, has been accepted at the University of Florida College of Engineering.
