FSU sideliners

All in good time

Members of FSU's 1949 team, the first one to reach a bowl, received an overdue reward for their accomplishment. The players were promised watches for reaching the Cigar Bowl in Tampa, where they beat Wofford 19-6, but received rubber footballs instead. The FSU athletic department made good on the gift of watches during halftime.

Nice place to visit?

The Cavaliers are 0-11 in the Sunshine State, including five losses in Tallahassee against Florida State. They have allowed at least 31 points in all 11.

Big day

FSU senior receiver Marvin "Snoop" Minnis had four catches for 131 yards, his fourth 100-yard game of the season, and two touchdowns. His 58-yard TD was his longest.

People's choice

A Tallahassee Democrat online poll asked fans whom they would like to see kicking, and the overwhelming choice was Emma Breland, a forward on the women's soccer team. She received 42.3 percent of the vote, followed by Matt Munyon (26.1 percent), Brett Cimorelli (21.2 percent) and Chance Gwaltney (10.4 percent), who hit all three extra points and all three field goals.

Quotable

"They're a tough people, I don't care what you say. ... I thought down here in our back yard on a hot day, we could push them around. We never did push them around." -- FSU coach Bobby Bowden
