Ken Rollins, executive director of Gulf Coast Museum of Art, was recently elected to two offices in the Florida Art Museum Directors Association at its meeting in West Palm Beach.
He was elected as west coast region vice president and is president-elect for the statewide organization for the 2001-2003 term.
He previously served as president from 1990-1992. Founded in 1960, the association is the state professional organization for 52 art museums in Florida.
New officers of the GFWC Tarpon Springs Woman's Club include Diana Vericella, president; Carole Weaver, first vice president; Dorothy Lawson, second vice president; June McFarland, third vice president; Barbara Garrelts, recording secretary; Bev Cook, corresponding secretary; Bonnie LaForme, treasurer; Karen Sluder, parliamentarian; and Mildred Randino, Marilyn Finley and Mary Jane Katra, directors.
Peter Taylor was recently installed president of Springtime City Kiwanis of Clearwater at the 46th annual installation program. Other officers include Doug Williams, president-elect; Lu Cushing, vice president; Darrel Gresham, secretary; and Thomas Hanley, treasurer.
Installed as directors were David Browder, Frank Lamagna, Ken Suggs, Donna Sciarra, Don Auerbach, Tom Riginos and Linda Williams.
Past leaders of the local club who also were honored were Bill Justice, former mayor and commissioner; Elwood Hogan, a retired judge; and Charlie Galloway, retired bank president.
The club's main focus is children. It conducts free health screening programs and an invitational track meet, which is in its 37th year at Clearwater High School. For information, call John H. Williams at (727) 784-1228.
Confederate Daughters named to state offices
Two members of the Mary Custis Lee Chapter 1451 Daughters of the Confederacy, Clearwater, were elected last month to state office at the annual DOC convention in Tallahassee. Kay F. Holley was elected state historian and Sharon Michaelis was elected state chaplain. The Clearwater chapter also received several awards.
