Citrus slicesBy BRIDGET HALL GRUMET
© St. Petersburg Times, A comic team, live from InvernessYou can take the man out of the city, but you can't take the New York out of Frank DiGiovanni, the fast-talking, sports car-driving city manager of Inverness. So the small crowd at Tuesday's City Council meeting did a double take when DiGiovanni, wearing his usual jacket and tie, introduced the man he helped select as Dunnellon's first city manager: a farmer look-alike in loafers, a plaid shirt and denim overalls, his cell phone and pager clipped to the bib. All that was missing was a blade of grass in Dunnellon City Manager Jim Alsobrook's mouth. Some might have thought Alsobrook was a tad underdressed for the occasion. Not him. "They're designer overalls," Alsobrook cracked. PRAISE INDEED: The Dunnellon officials came to the City Council meeting to formally thank DiGiovanni for sitting on the selection committee that chose Alsobrook. Inverness City Council president Bob Plaisted echoed the praise for DiGiovanni, noting that many of the city manager's good deeds go unreported. "Not everything that goes on in the city is known by everybody," Plaisted said. "Not even me," DiGiovanni mumbled. -- Times staff writer Bridget Hall Grumet compiled this report
