The 26th annual Richey Region Antique Car Show sponsored by the Antique Automobile Club of America is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Sims Park downtown New Port Richey.
Tom Reisdorph is chairman. He said many participants will dress in '50s styles or antique clothing and he encourages spectators to show their spirit by doing the same. he car show is part of the Founders Day Celebration.
Cars for the Judged Car Show Saturday should be registered between 8 a.m. and noon.
The Open Car Show registration is scheduled 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday. Awards will be presented about 4 p.m. both days. All car owners participating must prove self insurance and have fire extinguishers. For sale signs are not allowed on show cars. Participants must be registered and present to win special prizes.
There will be games and awards for children including a contest for the best drawing of a car, a hula hoop contest and a Halloween costume contest.
First Presbyterian Church to sponsor trip to Orlando
The First Presbyterian Church, 7540 Ridge Road, New Port Richey is sponsoring a trip to the "Holy Land Experience" in Orlando on Saturday. Admission charge to the park is $14 for adults and $10 per child. Cost of bus transportation is $20 per person. The theme park depicts the Holy Land. Retired Officers chapter to meet for dinner Tuesday
The Retired Officers Association, Upper Suncoast Chapter will meet for dinner Tuesday at the Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Ave., New Port Richey.
Social time is at 6 p.m. with dinner featuring entrees of roast loin of pork, chicken Franchaise or a veggie plate served at 7. Cost is $15 including all amenities.
Larry Lester will talk on physical therapy for needy Florida children.

American Legion Paradise Post 79 seeks members
The American Legion Paradise Post 79 is seeking new members.
Veterans having served during World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, Lebanon, Panama and the Persian Gulf are eligible. U.S. Merchant Marines of World War II and members of the armed forces currently serving on active duty are also eligible.

Free Halloween events announced
The Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department announces Halloween events. A fourth-annual Scream Acres Halloween Event is scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. (with gates closing at 9 p.m.) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park, 10500 Wilderness Park Road, New Port Richey.
This event is for ages 7 to 17 and their families. Those under 16 must be accompanied by a parent. It is suggested participants bring a flashlight. The cabin area will be transformed into a spooky, haunted village filled with ghosts, goblins and spooks. Survivors of the haunted hike will be rewarded with trick or treat candy. Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department Odessa Park, 1627 Chesapeake Drive, Odessa is sponsoring a Halloween Spooktacular for children of all ages from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the park. St. Vincent de Paul youth group sponsors festival
The Youth Group of St. Vincent de Paul Church is sponsoring a Halloween Festival from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the church, 4843 Mile Stretch Road, Holiday.
There will be an anti-haunted house, maze of mystery, a masquerade ball, and Oktoberfest. Participants are encouraged to come in costumes of mystery to be judged with prizes for all ages. There will be food, music and games of the season. For information, call 938-1974.
VASA Order of America lodge to meet for lunch
The Holiday Lodge 699, VASA Order of America will meet for lunch at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Finnish American clubhouse, Madison and Delaware, New Port Richey.
