Letters to the EditorsDoctors easily can afford yearly society fee
© St. Petersburg Times, published October 23, 2000 Editor: Re: Doctors vow to revive medical society, Oct. 16 Hernando Times: I could not wait to respond to staff writer Phyllis Day's article on the revival of the Hernando Medical Society. Do you, Dr. C.J. McGrew, have the gall to report that the $1,000 total of fees per year is too great for the local doctors to afford? With the increase of medical fees and the overload of prescription drugs, which many doctors suggest with a "try this" attitude and which many seniors find difficult to afford -- even ignoring the minimum-wage workers without insurance that is offered at unreasonable rates -- you have the unmitigated gall to suggest that doctors in the community cannot afford annual fees of $1,000 to provide better medical care for the community? Count your shameful attitude as one of many that could be easily corrected.
