Hernando briefsBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published October 24, 2000 Vets, spouses can get free flu shots todayBROOKSVILLE -- Free flu shots will be available to veterans and their spouses from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and Wednesday in the Disabled American Veterans Bingo Hall at Cortez Boulevard and California Street. Those receiving shots must have their DD-214 (discharge papers) or a VA medical card, as well as picture identification. Spouses must have identification and a copy of the marriage license if the veteran is not present. For information, call the Hernando County Veterans Services Division at 754-4033. AARP chapter meets for lunch ThursdaySPRING HILL -- AARP Chapter 1026 will have a lunch and meeting at noon Thursday at Bentley's Restaurant on U.S. 19 at Northcliffe Boulevard. The guest speaker will be Ruth Helbig, a national AARP coordinator, who will explain the organization's prescription drug program and prices. Also, various local political candidates will speak. Lunch costs $7.50. Reservations are needed. Call 683-9401.
