Water workout targets new moms, moms-to-be

BELLEAIR -- A comprehensive water workout program for pregnant mothers and those who delivered babies recently is offered from 11 a.m. to noon Mondays at the Belleview Biltmore Eclips Spa, 25 Belleview Blvd.

Free guide lists county youth service programs

ST. PETERSBURG -- A free guide listing more than 70 Pinellas County non-profit agencies is available to young people interested in performing a service learning project for the Bright Futures scholarships. Students who need to fulfill service-hour requirements for high school graduation also may request a copy. The guide, available through the Volunteer Action Center of Pinellas Cares Inc., gives a description of each agency, contact names and telephone numbers.

Volunteer tutors needed to teach basic English

DUNEDIN -- The Dunedin-based Literacy Council of Upper Pinellas County is seeking volunteer tutors to teach basic literacy and English as a second language to people who need to improve their reading and writing skills. Teaching skills are not necessary. Volunteer training classes are now starting.

Charitable horseback riding group seeks help

CLEARWATER -- EQUITHER, a non-profit organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding for handicapped youngsters, needs volunteers to walk with child riders. One or two walkers are needed for each child, depending upon the rider's level of independence.

Volunteers must be able to make a weekly commitment. Other volunteers are needed for fundraising and other aspects of the program. EQUITHER is just south of Sunset Point Road between U.S. 19 and McMullen-Booth Road.

Six-team winter bocce league being formed

CLEARWATER -- Six teams will form for a winter bocce ball league sponsored by the Italian American Club of Clearwater. Games will be played on Sunday mornings at the club, 200 McMullen-Booth Road in Clearwater.

Those interested must join the Italian American Club to register for the league. Registration begins at 7:30 p.m. today at the IAC. For information, call Gino Caldarelli at (727) 773-0280.
